Rev. Kalen Fristad has spoken in 36 states in the United States, as well as in Canada and England, at more than 240
churches of several different denominations. He has spoken to various kinds of groups, but it is most common for
churches to invite him to preach at their regular worship services. He would consider it an honor to be invited to
speak at your church and would appreciate being given the privilege of preaching the sermon.
When preaching at a Unitarian Universalist Church, Rev. Fristad will usually focus on the history and
significance of the teaching of universalism in a sermon entitled, "Universalism: Past, Present and Powerful". In
addition to speaking on the long rich history of universalism, he relates that the teaching of eternal damnation is not
merely a harmless untruth that we might appropriately ignore and allow to stand, but it has serious consequences. It
leads to the possibility, perhaps even the inevitability, of wars, bigotry, oppression and abuse. On the other hand, the
teaching of universalism leads to equality, respect, love and dignity for all.
In preaching at other churches, Rev. Fristad will usually give a sermon entitled, “Rescue or Flush?” This is
a biblically-based sermon in which he makes it clear that God never gives up on anyone and flushes them (sends
them to hell forever), or abandons lost people in this life or the next, but ultimately rescues everyone. This message
provides encouragement to people who are open to the belief of universal salvation, while being respectful of those
who may disagree.
Rev. Fristad has no set fee for speaking engagements. If churches are able to pay an honorarium, he accepts
whatever is customarily paid. For churches unable to pay an honorarium, he asks that it be announced that he is not
being paid an honorarium and that people can make a donation to support his ministry if they choose. In either case,
he asks that he be given a place to display his books, DVDs and CDs so people can buy them if they desire.
